G.1 Organize an evacuation center for 10,000 people

The outbreak of Rift Valley Fever is getting worse. So is the flooding. An EOC has been activated in response to the need for an evacuation reception center. The evacuation center must have a capacity of 10,000 people. They all will need services.

 The EOC has activated Operations, Planning, Logistics and Finance functional areas. Every unit under those functional areas is activated, and every unit has work.

 Using the Incident Command System structure, map the following objectives using the EOC reference document. When you’re finished, write a brief statement for the Documentation Unit, explaining each of your organizational decisions.

 Here are your five objectives:

1)   Provide incident information to those directly and indirectly affected by the incident;

2)   Provide basic and adequate food, water, clothing, and blankets for those affected by the evacuation (and food for responders and volunteers).

3)   Provide accommodation for a minimum of three days to evacuees who need overnight accommodation;

4)   Provide a registration and inquiry process for the identification of people missing in the evacuation area (and to reunite families and friends with people who were able to evacuate); and

5)   Provide personal services, including counseling, medication, and first aid to the evacuees.

 (Do NOT worry about the shaded boxes in the EOC reference document. All of your activities should be organized within the white boxes.)
